The competitive Call of Duty Black Ops 4 season was filled with all the thrills and spills that fans of the games have become accustomed to over the years, but it also had a different feel to it for one key reason: CoD esports is about to change and it will never be the same again.
Black Ops 4 was the last ever season of the Call of Duty World League as Activision has announced an all-new city-based franchise system called the Call of Duty League, or CDL.
This also means that it was last ever year of competition for the original OpTic Gaming – an organization synonymous with CoD esports and easily the most popular team in the game.
While the OpTic brand has been bought out by Immortals and will be used by their Los Angeles franchise team, long-time owner Hector ‘H3CZ’ Rodriguez and many others have now left the organization and the future of the players is uncertain.
