Before the Sledgehammer team decided to begin development on Call of Duty: WWII (2017) they had begun the conceptualization stages of Advanced Warfare II. Bret Robbins (former Sr. Creative Directer at SHG) confirmed on a recent podcast appearance they had prototyping and even a demo level made before ultimately switching gears.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is a free-to-play Call of Duty game developed by Infinity Ward and Raven Software for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows.
