When I was 9 years old, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and sent to Dallas Children’s Hospital. There I would learn that instead of a tumor I had a different rare disorder that required specialized treatment. They saved my life, but it was only after an agonizing month of being bedridden. I spent a month staring at the ceiling and listening to other kids go to play room with video games and celebrity visits. No child should have to suffer like that. Having a portable video game kart would have made my time at the hospital much less painful. Hopefully, if enough of these units are built, no child will need to experience this again. The Go Karts are designed and shipped by Gamers Outreach (probably better known as Gamers for Giving) and are shipped out to the hospital chosen. The reason they cost $3,500 is because they are legally required to be made of anti-microbial plastics and adhere to about a dozen different expensive regulations.
